Sex Crimes and Wealth
There is a general trend in the world today where people agree that rich people have more rights than other people and unthinkingly imagine net worth is a meaningful proxy for how much they have done for other people.
Things work different for very wealthy people and some of that is legitimate and reasonable and some is not. Most people, regardless of social class, have no idea what's reasonable and what's not reasonable in that regard.
Not all people born to wealth are rampantly corrupt. Where they are, I believe it follows a pattern where they view life as a one-time thrill ride, an EXPERIENCE to be had where no matter WHAT bullshit they do, daddy can bail them out or a high-priced doctor can fix it and it's someone else's responsibility to pay for their mistakes and clean up their messes.
They expect solutions to their problems to be provided by someone more talented and hard working than they will ever be who will NEVER be worth one tenth what they are worth.
Generally speaking, abusive people actively look for excuses and justifications rather than solutions. If you run through enough options for how they could handle it without shafting people, you will find they don't actually WANT to stop shafting people and there's always a new excuse and after enough iterations you can document that their excuses have no logical consistency other than they don't really want to remedy it.
This is the pattern you are looking for in wealthy people born into wealth and privilege who don't want to straighten up and fly right:
1. They view life as AN EXPERIENCE.
2. They have ZERO concept that they need to care in the slightest about the welfare of ANYONE, not even their own welfare.
3. Daddy, a physician, someone talented and ethical and hard working who CARES is responsible for taking care of THEM. That's not their job.
4. When they go on their latest THRILLING adventure and get an STD or get a girl pregnant or turn up pregnant themselves or start an irresponsible, self-serving business adventure or WHATEVER, they count on MONEY and power and privilege to mitigate the impact on THEM and fuck you, got mine to everyone else impacted.
They do NOT pay for the abortion for some stupid chick who slept with them, the STD treatment of the last several people they infected, NOTIFY sex partners that they should get tested ... NADA.
Historically, wealthy men could have a wife and a mistress ASSUMING he paid their bills and helped raise the kids and they were the ONLY two women he slept with so they weren't rampantly spreading STDs. Modern wealthy people rampantly breaking the rules COUNT on other people to feel it's somehow FINE for rich people to sleep around and don't think too much about the details of what should be expected in terms of social contract for how this impacts other people.
A previous piece on this blog called Paternity suggests that there is legal and social precedent for saying "If you are a man and you RAISE the children that are a consequence of your wild sex lives as your own, people can butt out of what you do behind closed doors. You aren't hurting anyone with getting your jollies."
I'm very CLEAR that if you aren't hurting other people, no one should care how often you reach orgasm or how. But if you are hurting a ton of people and doing enormous harm, well you've MADE it the world's business what you do in private because your private actions are doing enormous public harm and that makes it a public matter.
There are endless LEGAL, MORAL and RELIGIOUS precedents rooted in such principles.
The Bible says "there's no sin in a marriage bed" and I think that's an attempt to say "You two are MARRIED. That constitutes societal approval of you two having sex with each other. Stop going to confession and telling the priest everything you do in bed and asking forgiveness. If you two AGREE to it, it's between you two and we don't care how you get off. We don't want the details. Shut the door. It's a PRIVATE matter."
But it's a PUBLIC matter when you get someone knocked up and you've created a child you aren't providing for and she needs to sue your ass for child support. It's a PUBLIC matter when you knowingly and intentionally spread disease because that's some sick thrill or you just want sex and it's tough to get a bed partner if you disclose your status.
Wealth and power CAN at times MAKE it okay to "break the rules" typically expected of ordinary Joes because you can AFFORD two women and multiple children. But with the kind of people I am talking about, the shit they do doesn't GET mitigated for OTHER people by their money and power. They shaft other people and expect everyone to not look too hard at the details because "it's a private matter" and "rich people are eccentric" and "power hath its privileges" and all this SHIT that doesn't actually reasonably justify it.
They count on human beings using proxies to get through life which I've talked about in posts on Raising Future Adults related to Prosopagnosia -- face blindness -- that people don't really recognize people the way they imagine they do nor as well as they think they do.
So how con artists operate is they UNDERSTAND that there are cracks in the system and they take advantage of those cracks intentionally.
And wealthy monsters count on social dynamics to discourage people from calling them on it and to politely agree "I must have forgotten." and things like that even when they weren't fooled.
And when it comes to sex crimes of various sorts, they count on the most damning pieces occuring behind closed doors where it's a he said, she said situation and she's a nobody you haven't heard of and he's famous or his family is a big deal and people who don't know will give them the benefit of the doubt and continue doing so no matter how many women they hurt.
And these are people with absolutely no conscience or ethics and WHEN someone calls them on their shit they BRAZENLY lie and fall back on dazzling people with bullshit in the name of fairness and if you don't have some AIRTIGHT case -- and you probably don't -- they continue their shit and hand wave off the mountains of evidence, the extremely long public track record and on and on and count on practices like double jeopardy and each court case involving a different jurisdiction and different judge to give them ENDLESS fresh starts.
And they will scream about harassment or similar if anyone tries to do anything actually effective to stop them.
In practical terms, the rules are different for wealthy people. That doesn't mean they should be entitled to harm other people and never be held accountable for their actions.
